New Business Intake Leader

Uncover seeks a seasoned New Business Intake Leader to spearhead their Risk & Compliance team. This key role involves providing guidance on legal, regulatory, and risk management obligations, including financial crime compliance, client due diligence, risk management, conflict resolution, internal investigations, insurance, governance, and data protection.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and mentoring a diverse team across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to deliver high-quality, tailored service to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Client Due Diligence (CDD)
- Oversee CDD process, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Supervise team members carrying out CDD checks on new and existing clients.
- Act as point of contact for internal queries relating to CDD.
- Carry out CDD checks on clients as needed.
- Manage adverse media and sanctions screening processes.
- Assist with training and development initiatives.
- Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments affecting law firm risk management.
- Ensure team adheres to relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain understanding of financial crime compliance, particularly Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
- Identify and escalate potential conflicts of interest arising from client engagements.
- Oversee conflict-checking process.
- Assist in development and implementation of new compliance policies and strategies.
- Team Management
- Lead and manage a team of Senior Analysts and Analysts.
- Foster a positive and supportive team culture.
- Serve as first point of contact for any CDD or conflicts-related queries raised by the team.
- Support team members' professional growth and development through mentoring and coaching.
- Ensure efficient workflow distribution and prioritisation of tasks within the team.
- Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across the NBI function.
- At least 3 years' experience in a law firm or legal environment, with a focus on financial crime compliance.
- Proven experience managing teams, with at least 2 years' experience of successfully driving performance and delivering results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to build strong relationships with clients, partners, fee earners, and support staff.
- Ability to train and mentor junior staff, and lead by example in developing a high-performing team.
- Strong organisational skills, with exceptional attention to detail as well as ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.
