Job Title: EC&I Design Engineer

Location: Ellesmere Port

Salary: £34,000 to £54,000 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week - flexible hours

Contract / Permanent: Permanent

Site Based / Office / Remote: This role is predominantly based in Ellesmere Port, with occasional site visits required and up to 2 days per week WFH

Qualification and Experience

  • At least 5 years' experience, ideally degree-qualified or time-served apprenticeship.
  • Demonstrable experience working on designs for hazardous areas installations and CompEX EX01-EX04 and/or EX12 modules are advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience on gas analytical and metering systems is highly advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience and knowledge of electrical installations in accordance with BS7671 (18th Edition).

Primary Duties

  • Develop clear and concise drawing and document packs and review existing packs with a keen eye for detail.
  • Assist in compilation of functional design specifications, FAT and SAT documents for analytical and metering systems.
  • Carry out cable calculations, I.S Loop Calculations (DSDs), AC and DC load schedules, lighting calculations, and thermal capacity calculations, ensuring accuracy.
  • Use garnered knowledge to train and advise junior EC&I design engineers on engineering principles and guidelines.
  • Attend client meetings and represent the company when face-to-face with clients.
  • Work closely with site-based engineers and commissioning engineers to continuously improve standards and help the design team view their projects from multiple perspectives, including maintenance, shipping, and decommissioning.

Secondary Duties

  • Build a clear image of existing processes and offer improvements and suggestions.
  • Aid the commissioning team during pre-FAT and FAT with any EC&I-related issues.
