Job Description

Job Title: Control and Instrument Engineer

Job Summary: DATS Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Control and Instrument Engineer to join our team. As a Control and Instrument Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing control systems for various industrial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and specify control systems for process factories, including PLC hardware requirements, control cabinet construction, and instrumentation design.
  • Develop and maintain core reference design standards for all aspects of control system design.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure the provision of design information and supervise the construction of control systems.
  • Analyze plant process, commissioning, and test data to identify areas for performance and efficiency improvements.
  • Develop project proposals, including schedule and cost forecasts, and manage project deliverables.
  • Present information for technical reviews and customer-facing activities, such as presentations and demonstrations of equipment or software.

Requirements:

  • A good quality degree in electrical or electronic engineering or a related discipline, plus over 3 years of relevant experience in design.
  • UK experience in a process industry, such as chemical, oil/gas, water, or nuclear.
  • Experience of specifying or designing control systems for a range of applications in process factories.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming requirements and standards, SCADA design and configuration, and instrumentation design.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of £50,000 to £70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • An annual company performance bonus, estimated at £3-4,000 per annum.
  • 25 days' holiday, rising to 28 days after 6 years' service.
  • Flexible working, including 13 extra days per year.
