Data Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Protection Specialist to join our team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our Information Governance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the Trust's compliance with data protection laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage Freedom of Information requests received by the Trust, ensuring timely and accurate responses in accordance with corporate and legislative requirements.
- Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and Information Governance Manager to develop and implement data protection policies and procedures.
- Conduct data protection impact assessments and monitor their performance to ensure compliance with GDPR standards.
- Provide advice and guidance to staff on data protection best practices and ensure they are aware of their responsibilities in handling personal data.
- Develop and maintain records of processing activities, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is available at all times.
- Support the development and implementation of data protection training programs for staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to handle personal data effectively.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure data protection is integrated into all aspects of the Trust's operations, including IT systems and processes.
- Relevant qualifications in data protection, information governance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in data protection, information governance, or a related field, with a strong understanding of GDPR and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate data protection risks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
