Data Protection Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Specialist to join our team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our Information Governance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the Trust's compliance with data protection laws and regulations.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage Freedom of Information requests received by the Trust, ensuring timely and accurate responses in accordance with corporate and legislative requirements.
- Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and Information Governance Manager to develop and implement data protection policies and procedures.
- Provide advice and guidance to staff on data protection best practices and ensure that all employees are aware of their data protection responsibilities.
- Conduct data protection impact assessments and monitor their performance to ensure compliance with GDPR standards.
- Develop and maintain compliance reporting for GDPR, providing regular updates to the Information Quality & Governance sub-committee.
Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in data protection or a related field, such as a degree in law or a specialist data protection qualification.
- Proven experience in data protection, including interpreting information legislation and guidance into organisational best practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate data protection risks.
