About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Protection Specialist to join our team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our Information Governance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the Trust's compliance with data protection laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Freedom of Information requests received by the Trust, ensuring timely and accurate responses in accordance with corporate and legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and Information Governance Manager to develop and implement data protection policies and procedures.
  • Conduct data protection impact assessments and provide advice on data protection best practices to Trust staff.
  • Develop and maintain compliance reporting for GDPR, ensuring the Trust's compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Support the development of new information processes and systems, ensuring data protection is addressed by default.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in data protection and information governance. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Specialist data protection qualification.
  • Experience of interpreting information legislation and guidance into organisational best practice.
  • Experience of delivering high standards of performance to achieve national and local targets.
  • Understanding of security and confidentiality rules, ideally within the public sector.
