We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Protection Specialist to join our team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our Information Governance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the Trust's compliance with data protection laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage Freedom of Information requests received by the Trust, ensuring timely and accurate responses in accordance with corporate and legislative requirements.
- Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and Information Governance Manager to maintain good knowledge of data protection law and practices, and to assist in monitoring compliance with the GDPR and Trust policies.
- Develop and maintain compliance reporting for GDPR, including records of processing activities, data protection by design and default, and data protection impact assessments.
- Provide specialist advice to the Trust on compliance obligations, including data protection impact assessments and monitoring their performance.
- Support programmes and initiatives that involve the development of new or innovative information processes, ensuring data protection is addressed by default.
- Deliver or support Data Quality audits across the Trust, and develop/maintain annual due diligent audit of all supplier contracts.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Specialist Data Protection qualification.
- Experience of interpreting information legislation and guidance into organisational best practice.
- Experience of delivering high standards of performance to achieve national and local targets.
- Understanding of security and confidentiality rules, ideally within the public sector.
- Working knowledge on legal and professional obligations with regards to NHS information governance.
