About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Residential Care Worker to join our team at Barnardo's Transition, Preparation and Moving-On Service in Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

As a Residential Care Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting our young residents to develop essential life skills, build resilience, and prepare them for independence. You will work collaboratively with our therapeutic team to deliver high-quality care that meets the individual needs of each child.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and young people, preferably in a residential setting. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with young people from diverse backgrounds. A strong understanding of trauma-informed care and child development principles is also essential.

In return, we offer a competitive salary of £25,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits such as comprehensive training, ongoing supervision, and opportunities for career progression.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting young people with daily living tasks, educational activities, and leisure pursuits
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with young people, colleagues, and external agencies
  • Contributing to the creation of a safe and supportive environment that promotes emotional well-being and personal growth
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, education) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 6 months' experience working with children and young people in a residential setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and child development principles
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
