Main Responsibilities:

  • Direct Work with Young People: Engage in key working, provide day-to-day care & support on a shift work basis, and collaborate closely with young people, their families, social workers, and other organizations.
  • Partnership Working: Work in partnership with young people, their social worker, carers, and other relevant agencies to ensure everyone's needs are addressed.
  • Care Planning: Coordinate, monitor, and review Care Plans for allocated young people preparing to make the transition to adulthood and greater independence.
  • Maintenance and Administration: Take responsibility for the upkeep of the establishment, health and safety, primary care issues, and administrative tasks associated with key working responsibilities.
  • Youth Empowerment: Encourage young people to take control of their lives, informing them of their circumstances and rights, involving them in planning, supporting them towards taking greater responsibility.
  • Safeguarding: Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and report these effectively.
  • Daily Needs: Attend to the day-to-day needs of young people, including bathing, feeding, cooking.

Household Responsibilities:

  • Shared Activities: Participate in practical activities necessary to maintain the House, care for the fabric, equipment, and overall environment.
  • Accountability: Be accountable for moneys allocated for specific purposes.
  • Reporting Repairs: Report repairs and ensure necessary actions are taken.

Personal Development:

  • Role Modeling: Act as a role model and guide for young people, setting principles and examples.
  • Good Practice: Stay up-to-date with good practice to develop skills, knowledge, and experience, in accordance with a personal development plan.
  • Professional Supervision: Make use of regular professional supervision.
  • Reporting Malpractice: Report malpractice or evidence suggesting it to a line manager or other appropriate person.

Additional Duties:

  • Rota Basis: Work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, on a Rota basis as required.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility to work at other properties as directed by management.

Requirements:

  • UK Work Permit: Legally allowed to work in the UK without sponsorship.
  • Experience: Experience of working with children/young people in an Ofsted environment is essential.
  • Certifications: Hold a Level 3 Diploma or above (or currently working towards one in Residential Child Care).
