Role Overview

An Austin Fraser partner school is seeking a motivated and caring individual to join their team as a Learning Support Assistant. This full-time role involves working closely with a small group of eight pupils, providing social, emotional, and academic support. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply psychological theories and engage in restorative and therapeutic practices to support children with mental health needs.

The ideal candidate will be a positive, caring, and nurturing individual with a passion for helping others. They will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively with students who have a variety of additional needs, including autism, cognitive impairments, learning difficulties, communication challenges, and physical disabilities.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing all students with the support they need to thrive. You will work collaboratively with the teaching staff to develop and implement individualized plans that cater to each student's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide one-to-one and group support to students with mental health needs
  2. Develop and implement individualized plans to support students' social, emotional, and academic development
  3. Collaborate with teaching staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
  4. Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure consistent support for students
  5. Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff

Requirements:

  • BA or BSc in Child Psychology or related field
  • Experience working with children with mental health needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and willing to learn

Salary and Benefits:

£80-£90 per day (dependent on experience)
