Sports Medicine Specialist Position at Commonwealth of Virginia

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Sports Medicine Specialist. As a vital member of the sports medicine team, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive care to student-athletes. Reporting directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, your duties will include the on-site management of injuries, as well as the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

  • Maintain electronic records of patient interactions
  • Develop and implement injury prevention strategies
  • Provide education and facilitate communication with athletes and staff
  • Administer medical care for designated student-athletes

The ideal candidate will accompany teams during two sports seasons each academic year, attending all training sessions. A flexible work schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays, is essential. The position entails moderate physical demands, including the lifting and support of patients as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in athletic training or a related discipline
  2. BOC certification and eligibility for licensure in the State of Virginia
  3. Demonstrated experience in a collaborative team setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of two years of experience in collegiate athletic training
