Job Summary

Norfolk State University, a NCAA Division I institution, is seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join its sports medicine staff. The successful candidate will provide onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses for student-athletes, working closely with the Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care for assigned student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses.
  • Coordinate and implement injury prevention protocols, including electronic documentation of patient encounters.
  • Communicate with coaching staff regarding the injury status of student-athletes and provide patient and staff education to mitigate risk of injury.
  • Travel with assigned teams up to two sport seasons per academic year and be present for all team practices.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in athletic training or related field.
  • BOC certification and eligibility for State of Virginia licensure.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of experience in athletic training at the collegiate level.
