About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our Epsom and South-East practice, based from the Epsom office. As a key member of our Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice, you will be responsible for delivering multi-disciplinary projects from concept through to construction, on our expanding portfolio of the biggest and most challenging projects across the Defence market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects to agreed targets, including programme, budget, and quality.
  • Identify and agree project objectives with the Design Director and develop a strategy for achieving these.
  • Manage potential contractual and commercial risks to Atkins and escalate to the Project Director as necessary.
  • Lead the project team, building and motivating team members, and providing regular feedback.
  • Ensure safety is prioritized throughout delivery.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with the Client and project team, including subcontractors and partners.
  • Assemble and own the project delivery programme and delivery plans.
  • Closing out the project on completion, capturing lessons learned, and disseminating internally.

Requirements

  • Chartered Engineer or Architect with experience managing design commissions on large infrastructure projects.
  • Experience across a range of construction projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities.
  • Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts and familiar with BIM and 3D modeling tools.
  • Customer-focused with excellent client relationship management skills.
