Job Title: Safety & Systems Engineer

Matchtech is supporting the recruitment for a System Safety Assurance Engineer to work with a key client in Toronto. This role requires the suitable candidate to relocate to Toronto for the position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead safety assurance for various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant international safety and technical standards such as EN50126, EN50129, or IEC 61508, CSM-RA, CMREA.
  • Report on progress, manage staff competence and development, and deliver an internal audit schedule to ensure projects follow governance.
  • Coordinate safety studies throughout the project lifecycle to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Manage hazard logs, review RAM, V&V, T&C activities from a safety perspective, and create and approve safety reports and cases.
  • Prepare technical reports for submission to management, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Lead safety engineering activities for a wide range of rolling stock, signaling, and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Manage risk assessments for specific discipline areas, planning, running, and writing up risk workshops.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent training.
  • Relevant safety designations an asset.
  • High degree of technical proficiency in dealing with safety-related aspects of large-scale and complex railway projects.
  • Strong knowledge of modern railway projects, including various components and systems.
  • Expertise in applying safety standards such as EN50126, EN50129, or IEC 61508, CSM-RA, CMREA.
  • Knowledge of design and construction management aspects of railway projects.
