Matchtech is supporting the recruitment for a System Safety Assurance Engineer to work with a key client in Toronto. This role requires the suitable candidate to relocate to Toronto for the position.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead safety assurance for various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant international safety and technical standards such as EN50126, EN50129, or IEC 61508, CSM-RA, CMREA.
- Report on progress, manage staff competence and development, and deliver an internal audit schedule to ensure projects follow governance.
- Coordinate safety studies throughout the project lifecycle to ensure safety requirements are met.
- Manage hazard logs, review RAM, V&V, T&C activities from a safety perspective, and create and approve safety reports and cases.
- Prepare technical reports for submission to management, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Lead safety engineering activities for rolling stock, signaling, and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Manage risk assessments for specific discipline areas, planning, running, and writing up risk workshops.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent training.
- Relevant safety designations an asset.
- High degree of technical proficiency in dealing with safety-related aspects of large-scale and complex railway projects.
- Strong knowledge of modern railway projects, including various components and systems.
- Expertise in applying safety standards such as EN50126, EN50129, or IEC 61508, CSM-RA, CMREA.
