Job Title: Accountant for Residential Estates

This role sits within the Property Management Services Team at Canary Wharf Group, responsible for estate management and service charge responsibilities across CWG's 3 estates. The successful candidate will lead on the service charge accounting for all residential buildings across the Southbank Place development.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist building managers in preparing service charge budgets and inputting data into Yardi system.
  • Ensure compliance with RICS/ARMA service charge guidelines.
  • Prepare service charge reconciliations to ensure timely issuance of accounts.
  • Resolve queries raised by landlords and tenants.
  • Review service charge expenditure and investigate variances.
  • Attend monthly and quarterly budget meetings with building managers.
  • Liaise with CWML Managing Directors and Directors on monthly and quarterly accounts.
  • Raise quarterly service charge demands in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile and recharge tenant direct recoveries.
  • Monthly reviews of balance sheet accounts.
  • Preparation and reconciliation of trial balances.
  • Reconciliation and calculation of landlord liabilities.
  • Accounting for PRS properties, including monitoring performance against KPIs.
  • Liaise with auditors and the financial accounts team as required.
  • Assist the wider service charge team.
Requirements:
  1. Experience with service charge accounting, preferably in a large complex residential setting.
  2. Part-qualified accountant or desire to undertake an accounting qualification.
  3. Experience with property management systems.
  4. Good Excel skills and attention to detail.
  5. Ability to establish good working relationships across the organisation.
