SEMH Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at Long-term Teachers Ltd. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a secondary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, promoting their emotional well-being and academic success.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement tailored support strategies, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist in classroom activities, helping students regulate their emotions and behaviors using de-escalation techniques.
- Monitor and report on student progress to the SENCO and teaching staff, contributing to the development of EHCPs.
- Promote positive behavior and social skills, fostering a supportive and inclusive school community.
- Experience working with young people with SEMH or other special educational needs in a school, youth work, or care setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting young people.
- Ability to manage challenging behavior in a positive and non-confrontational manner.
- Flexibility, resilience, and a passion for improving the lives of young people.
- Able to drive and have access to your own car.
- Desirable: relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant).
