About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Perinatal Mental Health Service. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to women and birthing people who are suffering from, or at risk of suffering from, moderate to severe mental health and/or parent-infant relationship difficulties in the perinatal period.

Main Responsibilities

  • Providing clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of perinatal mental health conditions
  • Developing and implementing evidence-based care plans and interventions to support women and birthing people
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff to ensure high-quality care and professional development
  • Participating in service development and improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes

Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligibility for inclusion
  • Certificate of Completion of Training in General Adult Psychiatry or CESR equivalent
  • Section 12 (2) MHA 1983 approved
  • Approved Clinician (AC) status/eligibility to be on the AC register

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • MD, Other professional qualification (MSc)
  • Coaching training
  • Leadership training
  • Training in evidence-based interventions for Perinatal Mental Health patients

About Us

We are a specialist community mental health service working with women and birthing people who are suffering from, thought to be suffering from, or at high risk of suffering from moderate to severe mental health and/or parent-infant relationship difficulties in the perinatal period. We have a multi-disciplinary staff team of nearly 40 staff from over 14 different professional groups delivering a wide range of evidence-based care and treatment to around 500 women/birthing people and their families per year.
