Job Title: Consultant Adult Psychiatry with Community

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Adult Psychiatrist to join our Perinatal Mental Health Service as a Community Mental Health Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to women and birthing people suffering from moderate to severe mental health and/or parent-infant relationship difficulties in the perinatal period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert clinical leadership and guidance to the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of evidence-based care and treatment to women and birthing people in the perinatal period.
  • Develop and implement effective care plans and interventions to address the complex needs of patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders to improve patient care pathways and experience.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service policies and procedures.
  • Participate in medical audit and clinical governance activities to ensure high-quality patient care.

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligibility for inclusion.
  • Certificate of Completion of Training in General Adult Psychiatry (ST6 trainees should be within six months of attainment at the time of the interview) or CESR equivalent.
  • Coaching training.
  • Leadership training.
  • Training in evidence-based interventions for Perinatal Mental Health patients.

Desirable Qualities:

  • Experience working with women in the perinatal period.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
  • Evidence of experience in medical audit and understanding of principles of clinical governance.
  • Experience leading a community mental health service.
  • Experience networking and building collaborative working relationships across a range of stakeholders/other clinical specialisms to improve patient care pathways and experience.

  • Understanding of and ability to deliver care in collaboration with service users to promote recovery.
