Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist/Research Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and motivated nurse to join our specialist pain management team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. As a registered nurse with a degree in nursing, you will have proven experience in caring for patients with post-operative pain and a strong understanding of pain management principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert clinical knowledge and support to colleagues, patients, and carers on the management of post-operative pain.
  • Manage a clinical caseload, prioritizing patient need across in-patient and out-patient settings to enable rapid response to calls for urgent advice.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary discussions on current caseload to ensure continuity and coordination of optimum patient care.
  • Negotiate effectively with clinical colleagues across ward/departmental areas and the wider community.
  • Flexible working hours to suit service needs.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies across Cancer Services to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to ongoing pain management needs and discharge arrangements.
  • To be flexible to the changes within the Pain Management Service and across the organisation.
  • To undertake non-medical prescribing in clinical practice.
Person Specification:
  • Essential:
    • 1st Level Registered Nurse
    • On the degree pathway in Nursing
    • Preparation for mentorship qualification
  • Desirable:
    • Level 6 post-registration qualification in pain management
    • Degree in Nursing
    • Enhanced Communication Skills Training
    • Non-Medical Prescribing
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Sound understanding of pain management (acute and chronic)
  • Able to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care
  • Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues across health and social care settings
  • IT skills in word processing and email
