People and Culture Specialist

As a key member of the People team, the People and Culture Specialist will play a vital role in fostering a workplace culture aligned with our core values of Gaia, Quality not Quantity, Activism, Culture & Heritage.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the People team and business in cultivating a positive workplace culture, providing timely and accurate HR support, and ensuring processes comply with employment law. This includes being the first point of contact for general employee queries, log and monitoring employee absences, overtime (OT), and Days in Lieu (DIL).
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for general HR inquiries, guiding employees on policies and procedures.
- Log and monitor employee absences, overtime (OT), and Days in Lieu (DIL), maintaining accurate records and reporting.
- Manage the entire onboarding and offboarding process, including preparing contracts, coordinating induction schedules, and conducting exit interviews.
- Coordinate and oversee internship and work experience programs, encompassing onboarding, scheduling, and support.
- Provide administrative support with recruitment activities, including job postings, CV screening, and interview scheduling.
- Assist with payroll activities as needed, ensuring employee information is accurately maintained for timely processing. Additionally, manage employee expense claims and tracking.
- Support across the employee lifecycle, including scheduling inductions and probation reviews, maintaining accurate records on the HRIS.
- Taking accurate and confidential notes during meetings as required, ensuring follow-ups and documentation are well-maintained.
- Contribute to the implementation and communication of company policies, promoting a well-informed and compliant workplace.
- Support HR projects, including initiatives in employee wellbeing, ED&I, and engagement, to drive a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Assist with other HR tasks and projects as needed.
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a similar HR or administrative role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR software/database management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to present information effectively.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of HR principles, employment law, and best practices.
- Familiarity with payroll, ATS, and HR systems is advantageous.
