Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Service Manager to join our team at Leeds City Council. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading our health and safety efforts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and promoting a culture of safety and well-being among our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety strategies to minimize risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Lead and manage a team of health and safety professionals to achieve our safety goals and objectives.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and well-being throughout the organization.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on health and safety best practices and procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
Requirements
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in a health and safety-related field.
  • Proven track record of leading health and safety initiatives and achieving compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and partnership.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and standards, including CDM 2015 and ISO 45001.
