Leeds Building Services (LBS) is responsible for construction, repairs, and maintenance throughout the Council. This service includes Responsive Repairs, Maintenance, and Planned Works for Council properties and assets, such as educational institutions, offices, and recreational facilities.

Role Overview:

As a Service Manager, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency and delivering value-driven services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the formulation and implementation of strategic improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and conducting audits to mitigate risks and uphold quality standards.
  • Supervising team members while complying with Council protocols and maintaining essential documentation.
  • Conducting risk assessments for all operational activities.

Important Notes:

All new hires will undergo a six-month probationary period. This role requires the right to work in the UK.

Job Purpose: Lead a team to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and Council policies, optimizing efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support strategic business improvement plans for cost-effective services.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and auditing procedures.
  • Oversee daily staff responsibilities and documentation in accordance with policies.
  • Ensure contractors comply with health and safety legislation.
  • Lead initiatives related to asbestos surveying and removal.

Qualifications:

  • Degree, HNC, or HND in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health.
  • Desirable: Asbestos-related qualifications.
  • Full driving license required.

Essential Requirements: Proven leadership and coordination in resource management, cultural transformation, and health and safety documentation.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a health and safety environment and staff management.
  • Experience in operational management and budget oversight.
  • Skills in presenting complex information and procurement processes.
