The National Advisory Board (NAB) plays a crucial role in maximizing Barnardo's Scotland's ability to make a positive impact on children's lives. As a National Advisory Board Member, you will provide strategic support and advice to the national executive, leveraging your skills, experience, and networks to drive meaningful change.
Key Responsibilities- Provide targeted strategic support and advice to the national executive on key areas, including:
- Implementation of Barnardo's corporate strategy
- Engagement with key external stakeholders
- Visiting services and service users to gain a deeper understanding of our work
- Acting as ambassadors for Barnardo's Scotland, promoting our mission and values
- Identifying opportunities to raise our profile and increase our influence among key stakeholders
- Engaging with the Barnardo's UK CEO and Trustees on key matters, including:
- Major planned updates to the corporate strategy
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual who is passionate about our work and has a strong track record in one or more of the following areas:
- Service delivery aligned to our work with children and young people (e.g. social work, education, health, police)
- Policy formation, development, and communication
- Lived experience related to our work
The successful candidate will be a resident of Scotland and possess a deep understanding of our organization's mission and values. They will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to our work and a willingness to contribute to our strategic goals.
Working ArrangementsThe NAB meets formally four times a year, usually in person in Edinburgh or Glasgow. There may be additional meetings involving other colleagues from across Barnardo's. The successful candidate will be expected to attend these meetings and participate in discussions and decision-making processes.
