Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Leadership Opportunity in Hillingdon

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to lead our Urgent Care Team in Hillingdon. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to shape the future of mental health services for young people in our community.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Urgent Care Team, providing psychiatric assessments, and supporting emergency work at Hillingdon Hospital. You will also contribute to the development of joint crisis pathways and protocols with the acute hospital.
Key Responsibilities- To take a consultant lead role in the local urgent care team and provide medical input to the weekly clinical review meeting
- To provide psychiatric assessments and support the Urgent Care Team with emergency work at Hillingdon Hospital and 7 day follow ups
- To develop and implement effective crisis pathways and protocols with the acute hospital
- To participate in case-based discussions with other CAMHS consultants and junior medical colleagues within the Hillingdon CAMJS doctors meeting
- To offer teaching to colleagues at the acute hospital, CAMHS colleagues and trainees, and medical students
The ideal candidate will have:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practice
- Listed on the Specialist Register of the GMC Medical Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or eligible to register within six months of interview date)
- A higher degree or additional qualifications relevant to working with children and adolescents
- Experience of assessing and managing risk in complex patients in acute and community psychiatric settings
- Competence in child and adolescent psychopharmacology
- Experience of Safeguarding Children Framework
- Ability to take a leadership role in a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring high quality care and staff morale
- Approved training in relevant therapeutic practice (e.g. CBT, DBT or Family therapy)
