About the Role

We are pleased to invite a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the Neurodevelopmental Team in Islington CAMHS. The successful candidate will provide leadership and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services to children and young people with mental health needs.

The role involves working in partnership with colleagues, other professionals, and families to develop effective management plans for children and young people with complex mental health problems. You will be responsible for providing clinical expertise, consultation, and support to colleagues within the service and wider networks.

The post holder will also contribute to quality improvement through audit of both psychiatric and multidisciplinary team work, ensuring the highest standards of clinical effectiveness in the clinical area. Additionally, you will play an active role in developing services under the Transforming care agenda.

About the Team

The Neurodevelopmental Team offers a diagnostic and post-diagnostic service to Islington children and young people who present with concerns about possible neurodevelopmental difficulties. The team is a large multi-disciplinary team accepting 1100 new referrals per year.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of child protection & safeguarding, Mental Health Act, and Capacity Act. You should also have experience of working in a similar setting, preferably in a community-based service.

You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong leadership, coordination, and organisation skills. The ability to operate effectively in meetings or committees and knowledge of process of organisational change are essential.

A basic medical qualification, full GMC registration, Section 12 Approval, MRCPsych, or equivalent qualifications are required. 5-6 years training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in a recognised training scheme and approved clinician status are also essential.
