Opportunity Overview

This Trainee SEN Educator opportunity offers a chance to grow professionally in a supportive SEN School setting.

You will work closely with students with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP), enhancing your understanding of diverse learning requirements.

The schools use various pedagogical approaches to foster positive learning outcomes and developmental growth. You will collaborate in small groups to promote learning advancement, social skill-building, and emotional well-being.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Support: Provide customised support to students according to their curriculum plans.
  • Lesson Delivery: Collaborate in designing and delivering lessons focused on life skills.
  • Trips and Learning: Facilitate student participation in educational excursions, linking theoretical knowledge to practical applications.
  • Behavioural Support: Implement evidence-based interventions to mitigate behaviours affecting quality of life.
  • Personal Care: Encourage students to maintain acceptable standards of hygiene (toileting, feeding).
  • Pupil Progress: Continuously monitor and evaluate student progress, adapting teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Break Time Duties: Contribute to break time activities, such as playground supervision and snack provision.

Requirements:

  • Experience Working with Children: Relevant experience working with children and those with special needs.
  • Qualifications: Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE in English Language & Maths or equivalent.
  • Calmness under Pressure: Effective stress management when interacting with challenging child behaviour.
  • Supporting Others: Willingness to assist colleagues with personal care tasks when required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Transportation: Possession of a Full UK Driver's license and access to transportation (desired but not obligatory).

Safeguarding: As a key contributor to safeguarding, you will undergo a comprehensive registration process and Enhanced DBS check.

Salary: This role carries a salary range of £22,100-£26,000 FTE.

Location: Located in Tonbridge, Kent.
