Job Summary

This Trainee SEN Educator role is an excellent opportunity for career development, enabling you to gain experience in a SEN School before further studies.

You will work with children with designated Education Health Care Plans (EHCP) in local SEN schools, gaining experience with children of varying ages and abilities.

The schools utilise various teaching strategies to encourage positive outcomes and student development. You will work in small classes individually and in groups, promoting learning progression, social development, and emotional well-being.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Support: Provide individualised support to pupils following their curriculums.
  • Lesson Delivery: Assist in delivering lessons and activities, focusing on life skills.
  • Trips and Learning: Support pupils' participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice.
  • Behavioural Support: Reduce behaviours that impact quality of life by providing behaviourally based support.
  • Personal Care: Encourage pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene (toileting, feeding).
  • Pupil Progress: Monitor pupil progress, ensuring teaching is appropriate and effective for each child's needs.
  • Break Time Duties: Assist with break time duties, including playground support and snack time.

Requirements:

  • Experience Working with Children: Professional, personal or voluntary experience working with children and disabilities.
  • Qualifications: Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE in English Language & Maths or equivalent.
  • Calmness under Pressure: Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour.
  • Supporting Others: Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to keep calm in high pressure situations.
  • Transportation: Full UK Drivers licence and a car or access to a lift (desirable not essential).

Safeguarding: Term Time Teachers are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, therefore all applicants will be subject to a full face-to-face registration and an Enhanced DBS.

Salary: £22,100-£26,000 FTE.
