We are currently seeking a seasoned Financial Controller with experience in the utilities/construction/engineering sector to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to oversee all financial aspects of our operations and drive the company's financial strategy and planning. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing the financial health of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
    Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
    Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
    Lead the bi-annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to prepare comprehensive budgets.
    Prepare accurate financial forecasts and provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis.
  3. Reporting and Analysis:
    Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
    Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
    Present financial performance and analysis to senior management and stakeholders.Monitor project costs, ensuring alignment with budgets and financial targets.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management:
    Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, standards, and reporting requirements.
    Manage financial risks, including credit, liquidity, and operational risks.
    Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.
  5. Team Leadership:
    Working towards building a team and leading, mentoring, and developing a finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
    Promote collaboration and effective communication within the finance team and across the organisation.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional accounting qualification (e.g., Sage 200, CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 7 years of experience in a senior financial role, with a strong background in the utilities sector or HV network projects.
    Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Technical Skills:
    Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g. Sage 200, ERP systems, MS Excel).
    Strong understanding of financial regulations, standards, and reporting requirements.
