About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team within the Estates and Engineering department. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the high-quality service is provided to internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out general maintenance tasks as requested
  • Complete painting and decoration to a high standard
  • Make minor repairs to the internal and external structure, fabric, fixtures, and fittings of the facility
  • Keep the grounds of the facility clean and tidy, removing litter and ensuring proper sweeping of the car park
  • Ensure external garden furniture and fittings, such as fences and gates, are clean and in good repair
  • Move furniture and other items within the hospital as required, assisting porters with the unloading of heavy deliveries
  • Collect and transport mail, notes, equipment, and other requested items between Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital and external associated sites
  • Work with porters and engineers to ensure the smooth running of the hospital

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, with skills in maintenance, repair, and general upkeep
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
  • Excellent communication and social skills, with an open and friendly nature
  • Able to complete physically demanding tasks, such as cleaning, moving, and building furniture, sweeping, and other related activities
  • Ability to work without supervision and at your own initiative
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, as this is a bank contract
  • Prior experience in painting and decorating is an advantage
