The GEAR UP program is a federally funded initiative aimed at supporting middle and high school students from low-income families, first-generation college students, and marginalized groups in accessing and succeeding in college and careers. As a College Readiness Program Coordinator with the Sylvania School District, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring these students graduate on time and are prepared for post-secondary programs or institutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual support to students to ensure timely graduation and post-secondary readiness.
  • Collaborate with district and building administration, counselors, and staff to develop an annual work plan and budget to provide GEAR UP support to 7th-12th grade students.
  • Enter participation data in the GEAR UP Portal and collaborate with building and district business office staff to ensure accurate expenditure submissions for reimbursement.
  • Participate in planned GEAR UP activities, including evening and overnight travel, summer programs, and professional development opportunities.
