Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team within the Older Peoples Services (OPS) at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our therapy team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients across a range of diverse areas.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced occupational therapy services as an autonomous practitioner, taking a leading role in the assessment and treatment of patients with acute, complex, and chronic presentations. You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement effective care plans, ensuring seamless transitions across the patient journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments and developing individualized care plans
  • Providing expert occupational therapy interventions to patients with complex needs
  • Supervising and supporting junior therapists, students, and therapy support workers
  • Contributing to the development of the therapy team and implementing quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborating with the Frailty Team and Acute Assessment Unit to ensure effective care coordination
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Minimum 4 years post-graduate experience in the NHS, with a strong background in acute medical rehabilitation and older peoples services
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong focus on quality improvement and education, with experience in leading projects and teams through change
