Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced occupational therapy services as an autonomous practitioner, taking a leading role in the assessment and treatment of patients with acute, complex, and chronic presentations. You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement effective care plans, ensuring seamless transitions across the patient journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments and developing individualized care plans
- Providing expert occupational therapy interventions to patients with complex needs
- Supervising and supporting junior therapists, students, and therapy support workers
- Contributing to the development of the therapy team and implementing quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborating with the Frailty Team and Acute Assessment Unit to ensure effective care coordination
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Minimum 4 years post-graduate experience in the NHS, with a strong background in acute medical rehabilitation and older peoples services
- Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong focus on quality improvement and education, with experience in leading projects and teams through change
