Health Services Researcher Role Overview

Healthcare Improvement Scotland is seeking a Health Services Researcher to join the Evidence and Evaluation for Improvement Team (EEvIT). The successful candidate will work with different programme teams across the organisation to provide evaluation and evidence support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation and evidence support to programme teams
  • Conduct qualitative research and gather views from stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders

Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant subject
  • Experience in qualitative research and evaluation
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

Working with the Evidence and Evaluation for Improvement Team

The EEvIT provides evidence review and evaluation support to support the planning and delivery of national improvement and redesign work. The team supports improvement/redesign teams within HIS to use evidence to inform the planning and development of their work.

Working with Programme Teams

The successful candidate will work with different programme teams across HIS to provide evaluation and evidence support. This may involve working with the Primary Care Improvement Portfolio to support the evaluation of the Primary Care Phased Investment Programme.

Supporting Health and Social Care Partnerships

The programme will be delivered at pace to support teams to explore challenges, identify areas for change and improve services. The programme aims to support fuller implementation of the GMS contract with a focus on improving key regulated priority areas.

Requirements for the Role

The post holder should have a broad range of health services research skills, in particular with experience in qualitative research. An understanding of evaluation approaches within the context of improvement and complex programmes is highly desirable.
