Building Services Manager

Are you an experienced facilities management professional looking to lead building services across a large and diverse estate? This pivotal role has arisen for a Building Services Manager to join a public sector's facilities management department. Reporting to the Property Maintenance Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing hard facilities management (FM) services across the Council's properties, including operational estates and properties for external clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You'll work directly with the Property Maintenance Manager and Head of Property, shaping the FM service to achieve high standards across the portfolio, with significant input into a £100m capital program.
  • As part of their ambitious strategy for property services, this role is key to achieving sustainable and compliant building operations, aligning with the Council's vision for a cleaner, greener borough.
  • Engage with senior Council members, regulatory bodies, and community groups while leading a dedicated in-house team and collaborating with top-tier contractors.
  • You'll join a culture focused on customer service, sustainable development, and continuous improvement, with opportunities for professional development and leadership growth.
  • Report to and gain mentorship from the experienced Property Maintenance Manager, helping drive strategy and operational improvements across the Council's estate.
Requirements:
  • Hold a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with extensive experience in managing both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Bring practical knowledge in facilities management regulations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong financial management and an ability to oversee budgets, including a £2m capital program.
  • Possess excellent leadership and team management skills, supervising in-house staff and external contractors to deliver high-quality maintenance services.
  • Exhibit expertise in building compliance, procurement, and project management, contributing to the Council's capital programs and long-term asset management plans.
