About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf to join our team at Wandsworth Sensory Support Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality support to deaf pupils across the borough.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach deaf children and young people in a variety of settings, including the outreach team and the Rowan Hearing Support Centre.
  • Work closely with families, including home visits and supporting them through hospital appointments.
  • Apply a holistic approach with a focus on family-centred activities and partnership working.
  • Develop cultural opportunities, including community projects tailored to the sensory needs of children and young people.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive support to deaf pupils.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Experience of teaching deaf children and young people or transferable skills and experience.
  • Confidence in exploring and adopting new technology and software.
  • Flexibility to be deployed based on the needs of the service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and build strong relationships with families.
