Position Overview: Environment and Sustainability Lead

In the capacity of Environment and Sustainability Lead, you will be responsible for guiding the implementation of environmental and sustainable practices across our contractor partnerships. This position is essential for ensuring that our project adheres to its environmental obligations and sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute protocols to guarantee adherence to environmental commitments and stipulations.
  • Oversee critical environmental factors of the project, aiming to mitigate risks to personnel and the ecosystem.
  • Incorporate environmental criteria into service agreements and assess proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental management protocols among all service providers.
  • Lead a team of Environmental Advisors, conducting routine evaluations and performance assessments.
  • Assist the Environmental and Sustainability Manager in discussions with regulatory bodies and local governance.
  • Offer expert advice on environmental issues to staff, contractors, and consultants.
  • Foster engagement with stakeholders, including local planning authorities and environmental agencies.

Required Skills and Expertise

  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations applicable to construction sites.
  • Strong organizational capabilities with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
  • Profound understanding of management implementation strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in a relevant field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in delivering environmental and sustainable solutions for large-scale construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction processes and standards.
  • Experience collaborating with regulatory authorities, planning bodies, and public organizations.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and standards pertinent to large construction projects, with an emphasis on the nuclear sector being advantageous.
