Research Opportunity at the University of Essex

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Officer to join our team at the University of Essex. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator to conduct research on the identification of molecular determinants of iNTS Salmonella infection and corresponding correlates of immunological protection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research with interdisciplinary partner teams from the OptiVaNTS project
  • Supervise and organise the large-scale expression of various proteinaceous targets
  • Structural characterisation and immunological characterisation of antigens in animal models of infection
  • Optimisation of expression constructs for potential vaccine candidates
  • Support reporting requirements of the project

Requirements:

  • Relevant doctoral level degree in Protein Chemistry, Structural Biology, Biophysics, or a related discipline
  • Experience in protein chemistry and recombinant protein production
  • Sound understanding of protein structure and protein engineering
  • Confidence in problem-solving and organisation
