About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate support professional to join our team as a Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable pupils.
Job Description
In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will be responsible for providing individualized support to pupils in need. You will work closely with the classroom teacher to develop tailored plans that cater to each pupil's unique needs and abilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing one-to-one mentoring and support to pupils in need
- Assisting the classroom teacher during lessons to ensure a smooth learning experience
- Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and collaborating with other school staff to ensure their needs are met
- Supervising pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
- Assisting with lesson planning and classroom preparation
- Setting work where appropriate, and marking
- Building positive relationships with pupils and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
- Experience of behavior management and techniques
- Commitment to professional development and willingness to learn
- A willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work
