An Exciting Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Museum Documentation Coordinator to join our team at the Ashmolean Museum. As a key member of our collections management team, you will play a critical role in maintaining and documenting our vast archaeological collections.

The successful candidate will have experience in museums or cultural heritage institutions, with a strong understanding of collections databases and software. You will possess excellent data entry skills, including accuracy and attention to detail, as well as knowledge of national data standards for museum collections.

This is a permanent part-time post, working 22.5 hours per week. The role requires flexibility, with occasional work at heights, lone working, and regular manual handling.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about preserving and promoting our cultural heritage. You will have a proven track record of working with archaeological objects, collections databases, and relevant terminologies. Your expertise in data analysis and cleaning, as well as your ability to work accurately and efficiently, will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain existing paper records, including accessions registers, index cards, handlists, catalogues, and object history files.
  • Create and enhance digital records to agreed standards in accordance with the Museum's Collections Management Policy and related procedures.
