Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Deputy Financial Controller to join our team at Undisclosed. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing the company's financial records and daily financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statement Management: Primary point of contact and responsibility for recording day-to-day financial activity, including general ledger activity for financial statement creation and monthly reconciliations.
  • Accounting Operations: Manages all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Financial Data Management: Manages the uploading and allocation of financial information from the third-party payroll provider.
  • Financial Analysis: Performs monthly financial variance analysis in support of the corporate reporting process and periodic detailed financial reporting in support of the business.
  • Financial Planning: Assists the Head of Finance with the management of accounting and budgeting within the organization, including the preparation of financial statements required by QinetiQ Group (IFRS and German GAAP).
  • Financial Reporting: Prepares year-end financial statements and proof of concept for audit requirements.
  • Financial Reconciliation: Works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
  • Tax Compliance: Files VAT returns.
  • Financial Performance Analysis: Prepares a monthly analysis of budget-to-actual results, detailing events or circumstances that relate to significant variances identified.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluates existing financial processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from improvement and, in conjunction with the Head of Finance, recommends and implements changes to financial policy, procedure, and work instructions.

Requirements:

  • Education: Post-secondary accounting-related diploma or higher from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Designation: At or near the completion of the CPA designation.
  • Experience: 3 years minimum experience in industry or public practice, with a combination of the two being preferable.
  • Technical Skills: High degree of proficiency in ERP software, advanced knowledge of Excel, and general computer proficiency in standard office tools (MS Office – Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • ERP Implementation Experience: Experience with ERP implementation.
  • Report Writing: Report writing using Power BI or ad hoc reporting through data manipulation in Excel (Pivot tables, etc.).
  • Regulatory Reporting: Regulatory reporting experience (VAT, import duties, etc.).
  • Financial Reporting Standards: IFRS and German GAAP reporting standards knowledge.
  • Currency Exposure: Multi-currency exposure.
