The Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Scientist to join their team in the West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and reporting of specialised genomic diagnostic investigations and for managing areas of existing service work in the laboratory.

Job Responsibilities

The post holder will be required to have knowledge and experience of genomic technology and the interpretation of scientific data, with the ability to undertake a range of complex clinical analytical tasks with attention to detail. They will also be responsible for gathering and assimilating information, including literature searches and the use of relevant clinical databases, and for communicating highly complex information in both verbal and written formats.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a science degree, preferably with a first or second class with Honours or higher degree, and a Certificate of Competence or equivalent. They will also need to be actively preparing for FRCPath (Part 1) or have assessed equivalent experience, and will need to be actively participating in CPD and participating in departmental seminars/journal clubs.
