Position: HR Officer
Contract Duration: 7 Month Contract, with the possibility of an extension.
Location: CV9 1DE
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00
Pay Rate: £16.25 per hour (PAYE)
Role Overview:To provide HR advice and support to Assistant Directors, Principal Officers and individual staff in line with Council policies, procedures, employment legislation and national and local conditions of service. To be accountable to the HR Manager for the implementation and monitoring of HR policies and practices across the organisation, with specific responsibility for individual divisions.
Key Responsibilities:- To provide professional advice and guidance to Managers on applying HR policies, procedures and relevant employment legislation, ensuring that a consistent organisational approach is adopted throughout the Council.
- Under the direction of the HR Manager handle casework with Managers, providing advice and support on performance, disciplinary, grievance, dignity at work and sickness absence issues
- To advise and support both the manager and employee about the Council's maternity, paternity, adoption and parental leave policies.
- To liaise with trade unions on casework where required
- To support the HR Manager in delivering the Apprenticeship scheme, work experience, and work placements, as required.
- Excellent negotiation, networking and presentation skills
- Experience working with Human Resource issues in a similar-sized organisation
- Experience in providing HR-related advice to managers
- Experience in developing and implementing policy initiatives
- Experience in IT applications, including Microsoft Office and computerised HR systems
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the application of employment legislation and HR policies, procedures and best practice
