Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Patient Care Support Specialist to become a vital part of our team. This is a part-time position, offering 24 hours per week, with a rotational schedule across a 7-day week.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in delivering personal care to infants, parents, and family members, while also assisting with various clinical responsibilities under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional. Furthermore, you will contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all patients.

As a Patient Care Support Specialist, you will be expected to work independently and carry out clinical tasks following appropriate training and competency evaluations in accordance with our established protocols.

This role will initially be classified as Band 2, with the potential to advance to Band 3 upon successful completion of necessary qualifications and competencies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the shift leader to provide clinical support to infants
  • Exhibit attitudes and behaviors that align with NHS and Trust values
  • Assist with personal hygiene and the safe handling of infants
  • Foster positive relationships with families and caregivers
  • Honor the unique needs of infants and support their emotional, social, and cultural well-being
  • Engage in health promotion initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proof of basic English and Maths qualifications or equivalent experience

Desirable Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent
  • Experience in a neonatal unit
  • Prior experience caring for newborns

Essential Experience:

  • Thorough post-training experience
  • Experience with infants under 3 months old

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar capacity
  • Experience in collaborative team environments

Required Skills

  • Basic IT and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and make independent decisions
  • Teaching skills for health education

Additional

  • Proficient in English with confidence and accuracy
  • Willingness to work flexibly across pediatric wards as needed
