Senior Estimator Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our Construction team in Gloucester. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in supporting the generation of profitable tenders, maximising the order pipeline, and driving revenue and operating profit within the business unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate project costs, identify contractual, financial, technical, and operational risks, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks and maximise gross profit.
  • Lead and manage the estimating team on projects, promoting best practice and ensuring the successful delivery of projects.
  • Participate in the winning of contracts by estimating costs, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting value engineering.
  • Contribute to the tendering process, including assessing, preparing, validating, and submitting tenders, and minimising subcontractor and material costs.
  • Build and retain commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors during the tender and project delivery process.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in construction estimating, ideally with a Tier 1 contractor.
  • Excellent technical construction knowledge and understanding of industry best practices and standards.
  • Strong research, proposal writing, and oral presentation skills.
  • Experience in working on Single and Two Stage Tendering.
