About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our Construction team at Kier Group. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in supporting the generation of profitable tenders, maximizing the order pipeline, and driving revenue and operating profit within the business unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Costs and Risks: Estimate the costs of projects, determine contractual, financial, technical, and operational risks, and identify opportunities to minimize risk and maximize gross profit.
  • Lead the Estimating Team: Lead, manage, and motivate the estimating team on projects by promoting best practice, ensuring timely and accurate estimates, and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Win Contracts: Participate in the winning of contracts by estimating costs, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting value engineering to minimize risk and maximize profit.
  • Tender Process: Contribute to the process of assessing, preparing, validating, adjudication, and final submission of tenders, including minimizing subcontractor and material costs, communicating with design, planning, commercial, and bid management functions.
  • Customer Relationships: Build and retain commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors during the tender and fulfillment process.
Requirements
  • Construction Estimating Experience: Proven experience in construction estimating, ideally with a Tier 1 contractor.
  • Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of best industry practices and standards, with a strong understanding of construction methods and materials.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent research, proposal writing, and oral presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in working on Single and Two Stage Tendering, with a strong understanding of the construction industry and its challenges.
