Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rheumatology Specialist to join our dynamic team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in enhancing the care of Rheumatology patients across our outpatient and inpatient services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Examine, investigate, and treat patients attending the Rheumatology Department, utilizing your expertise to provide high-quality care.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors and specialist nurses, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Participate in internal education activities, including teaching and training of nurses, medical students, junior doctors, and other visitors to the department.
  • Engage in external educational activities, such as meetings and courses hosted by the department, to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Rheumatology.
  • Contribute to research, audit, and clinical governance activities, driving quality improvement and innovation within the department.
  • Provide medical support to non-medical staff, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Perform administrative tasks relevant to Rheumatology, including writing letters, compiling data, and developing clinic protocols.
  • Clinical liaison with other hospital departments, general practitioners, and external agencies as required, fostering strong relationships and partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve hospital-planned activity for inpatient and outpatient services, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Rheumatology Specialist who possesses the following qualifications and attributes:

  • MBchB/MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCP (or equivalent)
  • Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) in a relevant specialty or as a fixed-term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching NHS Foundation Trust
