Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rheumatology Specialist Doctor to join our dynamic team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in enhancing the care of Rheumatology patients within our outpatient and inpatient environments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Examine, investigate, and treat patients attending the Rheumatology Department.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors and specialist nurses to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in internal education activities, including teaching nurses, medical students, and junior doctors.
  • Engage in external educational activities, such as meetings and courses hosted by the Department.
  • Contribute to research, audit, and clinical governance activities within the Department.
  • Provide medical support to non-medical staff and perform administrative tasks relevant to Rheumatology.
  • Clinical liaison with other hospital departments, general practitioners, and external agencies as required.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • MBchB/MBBS or equivalent qualification.
  • MRCP (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) in a relevant specialty or as a fixed-term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.

Desirable Criteria

  • Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD).
  • Experience of leading teams and managing a service.
  • Recognised teaching qualification.
  • Critical Appraisal Skills.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodology and experience of carrying out quality improvement projects.
