Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operational Buyer to join our Commercial Services team at University Hospitals Dorset. As a key member of our Operational Purchasing Team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising colleagues who undertake operational buying for defined areas within the trust.

You will work closely with senior colleagues to provide a highly professional and responsive buying service that meets operational requirements and supports patient care. This will involve liaising with various colleagues and suppliers to ensure seamless communication and efficient procurement processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and supervising operational buying activities
  • Liaising with colleagues and suppliers to ensure effective communication and procurement processes
  • Providing a highly professional and responsive buying service that meets operational requirements
  • Working closely with senior colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives

Requirements:

  • Proven experience of working in a purchasing and/or supplies function or transferable skills
  • Supplier negotiations and contract management experience
  • Good keyboard skills with working knowledge of applications including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
