About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced paralegal to join our team as a Business Affairs Executive. This is a key role working across one of our frontline labels, Atlantic Records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts relating to the creation of assets for use by our label teams in marketing and promoting our artists' releases.
  • Advise on and draft terms and conditions for competitions and similar promotional initiatives being undertaken by the label teams.
  • Negotiate live performance agreements, granting rights to a range of broadcasters and live event promoters when our artists are recorded performing live for radio/TV/online or at festivals and other live events.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements when our artists collaborate with third party brands, including product placements in music videos or branded live performances.
  • Respond to rights queries from the labels and other departments.
  • Provide other general legal and business affairs support as required across the labels.
Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience within an in-house music (or similar industry) legal team or in a relevant department in a private practice law firm.
  • A minimum of a 2:1 degree (LLB or other undergraduate degree with law conversion).
  • A sound understanding of intellectual property law (in particular copyright and performers' rights).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Sound commercial acumen.
  • A clear and confident communicator, personable, and enjoy building relationships with the business and colleagues.
  • Proactive, able to work well under pressure, and good at prioritising workload.
