About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our East Specialist Health Community Learning Disability Team. As a specialist physiotherapist, you will work with adults with complex physical health needs and learning disabilities, providing evidence-based treatment programmes and training family and carers in postural management.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist physiotherapy services to adults with learning disabilities, including assessment, treatment, and training.
  • Work closely with other multidisciplinary team members, carers, and services to promote independence and community inclusion.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans, taking into account the unique needs and goals of each patient.
  • Collaborate with senior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and students to ensure high-quality care and professional development.
  • Participate in hydrotherapy, postural management clinics, and other specialist services to enhance patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy and valid State registration with the Health Professions Council.
  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and complex physical health needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of theories and methods of practice specific to people with learning disabilities, including Physiotherapy Theory and government policy.
